Occupation prior to enlistment Fireman Enlisted 20 September 1915 Served on the Western Front Awarded Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty near DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 28th March 1918. A party of the enemy attacked his post and caused casualties to the Lewis Gun team putting it out of action. he got another gun into action and dispersed the enemy, leaving 10 dead and capturing 6 prisoners and one machine gun. His resource and bravery at all times a fine example to his men.' Returned to Australia 31 March 1919
