Keith was an ANZAC. He died after a battle at the "Chessboard" which is further north of the area known as ANZAC Cove. The battle began on May 2 and involved the 13th, 15th and 16th Australian Battalions, the Otago Infantry Regiment and two battalions of Marines. Keith died of wounds at sea on Tuesday, 4th May 1915, 2 days after the beginning of the battle and was buried at sea between Gallipoli, Turkey and Alexandra.
