Born 22 April 1895 in Ballina, New South Wales. Son of Bertha Thomas (nee Kohler) Enlisted in Townsville, Queensland on 27 September 1915 aged 20 years. Occupation prior to enlistment Station Master Served in France. On 30 March 1917 Alfred fractured his right tibia and fibula when he slipped under a railway carriage near Bapaume, France. On 27 August 1917 he embarked on the “Pakeha” for Australia. He was medically discharged on 4 December 1917.

THOMPSON, Thomas John
Service no 799 Farrier Sergeant 11th Light Horse Regiment
Born on the 1st June 1892 near Goondiwindi Son of Thomas and Annie. He enlisted on the 5th January 1915 in Goondiwindi at the age of 22. He served with the 11th and 5th Light Horse then 4th Australian Camel Regiment. He served in the Gallipoli Peninsula and the Middle East Theatre. He left Cairo on the Troop Ship "Delta" (the same ship that took him to the war) on the 9th August 1919 and arrived in Australia on 3rd September 1919 and was discharged on the 5th November 1919.

At war's end, he was repatriated to England on the 1st January 1919
